Hibbing
Essentia Health-St. Mary’s in Duluth with her daughter by her side. She was born
February 26, 1964, to Warren and Karen (Marsyla) Sanders in Hibbing. Christal
was a 1982 graduate of Hibbing High School. She was a member of Wesley
United Methodist Church in Hibbing. Christal worked at the Range Center as a
CNA; she was very dedicated to the people she took care of. Christal worked at
First National Bank in Buhl and from 2013 to 2019 she ran the YCare after school
program. She finished her career at the Range Center. Christal was a movie buff,
she also enjoyed cooking and made amazing gravy, a recipe she passed on to her
daughter Kaitlyn. Christal was always active within her kid’s sporting events and
lived for her kids and grandkids, rarely missing an activity. She had a witty sense
of humor and was known to push buttons. Christal always put others before herself
whether it was at work or at home. She is survived by her father, Warren Sanders,
Hibbing, MN, children, Nicholas (Shalynn) Kochevar, Lakeville, MN, Kaitlyn
Kochevar, Hibbing, MN, twin brother, Jeff (Dana) Sanders, Zim, MN, brother,
Marty (Dana) Sanders, Maple Grove, MN, grandkids, Max, Sophia, Ace, and Mila
Kochevar, many nieces, one nephew, extended relatives and friends. Christal was
preceded in death by her mother, Karen Sanders and husband of 31 years, Gary
Kochevar. A gathering of family and friends will be held 11 am Friday, May 3,
2024, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. A time of sharing will be held at 12
noon before the conclusion of the gathering. Interment will be held at the Maple
Hill Cemetery in Hibbing at a later date. Christal’s family would like to extend
their gratitude to the Essentia Health Team for the exceptional care they gave her.
