Charles "Chuck" H. Hilgedick

Charles “Chuck” Henry Hilgedick, age 84, of Nashwauk, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN. Chuck was born on February 18, 1942, in Saint Paul, MN, to John and Evelyn (Barnes) Hilgedick.

Chuck grew up in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated from West High School. He met the love of his life, Susan Potvin, in 1969; they married on November 10, 1973, and were just shy of celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary. Chuck worked as a District Sales Manager for USA Today before retiring and becoming a full-time grandpa, which he took very seriously, spending time with his family and taking care of his grandchildren. He enjoyed photography, adding to his stamp collection, and building model ships. Chuck had a caring heart and loved volunteering for the VA Battle Buddies, Hospice Care, and taking people to their medical appointments. He won the 2017 Volunteer of the Year and was runner-up for the 2017 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award at the Minnesota State Fair. Chuck will be remembered for his compassion for others, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone he knew; he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Hilgedick; daughter, Tamara Holman; grandchildren, Zachary and James Jr. Hilgedick; great-grandchildren, Reyna and Declan Hilgedick.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and son, James Hilgedick.

Per Chuck’s request, there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing, MN.
