Charles A. Blomquist

Charles Alan Blomquist was born in Hibbing, MN, on June 18, 1943, to Maria “Mary” Ilona (Hernesman) and Reino Alvar Blomquist. He spent the majority of his life in Hibbing where he attended kindergarten through Junior College at the Hibbing High School. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, Grand Forks. While most of his professional career was as an Engineer in the Iron Range mines, early in his career he worked in Denver, CO, and also for 3M in St. Paul, MN, before moving back to Hibbing in 1974. Chuck married Dianne Hammer on August 28, 1965, in Hibbing, MN. They welcomed a son, Alan, in 1967 and a daughter, Mara, in 1970, before divorcing in 1978.

Chuck is survived by his son, Alan Blomquist (Kristin) of Plymouth, MN, daughter Mara Nowak (Ed) of Petaluma, CA, grandchildren Michael Nowak (Briana), Josephine Nowak, Nicole Blomquist and Leah Blomquist, sister Shirley Daley and dear friend who he shared many years with and who took great care of him in his final years, Lolly Micko.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene in 2002 and sister Carol Ann, who died at birth in 1935.

A gathering of family and friends for Chuck will be, 12:00 pm until 2:00pm, Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association atwww.alz.org, and if possible, to the MN/ND Chapter.
