Carol Jean Putzel, age 83, of Hibbing passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Fairview Range Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1940, to Louis and Mary (Ribich) Putzel in Hibbing.
Carol graduated from Hibbing High School in the class of 1958. Following graduation, she was hired at the Hanna Mining Company, which later became National Steel, working there for over 30 years. Carol was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and over the years helped serve countless funeral lunches as well as being the secretary of the CCW. She was an avid bowler and loved canning, baking, and making homemade jelly. She played bingo, enjoyed listening to music at the Maple Hill Community Center, and went to many pancake feeds at the Silica Community Center. Carol also enjoyed travelling visiting many places throughout the world including, Japan, Egypt, Slovenia and Maylasia. An extremely caring person, Carol helped many family members, especially when they were sick and nearing the end of their life. She was also always available to babysit for her many nieces and nephews. Carol never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special event and would always send cards. Carol meticulously kept up the family farm and made many princess pine wreathes at Christmas time for friends and family across the country. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary, siblings, Betty (Frank) Sterle, Lois (Richard) Sabin, Louis (Alta) Putzel, Marlene (Norbert) Milanowski, and Gwen (Harry) Lee and niece, Theresa Lee.
She is survived by brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Putzel, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, extended relatives, good friends and her Catholic Community at Blessed Sacrament.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the beginning of Mass at 12:30 pm. A private interment will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Fairview Range Home Care and Hospice.
