Ardell Damjanovich

Ardell Damjanovich, 91, lifelong resident of Keewatin, MN died Monday, January 29, 2024, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN. She was born June 24, 1932, to Alvin and Hazel (Blanchard) Blair in Keewatin. Ardell entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Nick on May 5, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin. She was employed with M.A. Hanna and Butler Mining Co., as a secretary throughout her career. Ardell was a very active member in her church. She was an influential part of the church kitchen crew, participating in countless funerals, church dinners, and antipasto fundraisers, throughout St. Mary’s tenure. Whenever you entered the kitchen downstairs, there was Ardell, making sure everything was running smoothly. She was a current member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN as well.
Ardell is survived by her children, Dennis (Marsha) Damjanovich, Eagan, MN, Nick (Juleen) Damjanovich, New Paris, PA, Mary (Kevin) Ayd, Mendota, MN, and Beccy (Dan) Fillman, Nashwauk, MN, daughter-in-law, Kathy Damjanovich, Woodbury, MN, 12 grandchildren, Amy Damjanovich, Carrie Damjanovich, Bryanna (Conner) Selvog, Nicole (Isaac) Emeigh, Jenna Damjanovich, Molly Damjanovich, Tori Ayd, Louis Ayd, Jackie Ayd, Joseph Ayd, Leah (Zach) DiIorio, and Thomas Fillman, seven great-grandchildren, her nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Damjanovich, husband, Nick Damjanovich in 1993, her parents, Alvin and Hazel, and three brothers, Alvin “Sonny” Blair, Butch Blair, and Dan Sullivan.
Funeral services for Ardell will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Sobolik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. The visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nashwauk Food Shelf, Fairview Range Hospice, or the donor’s choice. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
