Alberta Rose Boznak

Alberta Rose Boznak, 76, Hibbing, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, in her home.  She was born in Gary, Indiana on Dec. 9, 1938, to Albert and Elizabeth Varga.   Alberta was united in marriage to Bob Boznak on Aug. 30, 1958, in East Gary, IN and she had been a Hibbing resident since 1979.  She was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community and The Red Hat Society.  She worked at McDonald’s in Hibbing for 12 years; served as a volunteer at Hibbing Memorial Building Tourist Center; and Fairview Range Medical Center Auxiliary. She served at Blessed Sacrament Parish in many areas, such as helping with Lenten Soup Supper, for which she had a passion. Alberta enjoyed fishing, camping, sewing, knitting, and dancing to Motown and the “oldies”.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Boznak, of Hibbing; a son, Brian (Terri) Boznak of Valparaiso, IN; three daughters:  Barbara Boznak of Flagstaff, AZ; Betty Boznak-Sabbatini of Gakona, AK; and Beverly (Tom Nygard) Boznak of Hibbing; sisters-in-law: Cheryl Varga, of Hebron, IN, Betty Greer of Lake Station, and Bonnie Boznak of Lake Station; and sisters through marriage: Merle (Dan) Gill and Judy (Jim) Havrilla; six grandchildren: Anthony (Hollie) Boznak; Jeffrey “Burr” (Melissa) Boznak; Elizabeth (John D.) Hale; Rebecca (Art) McQuisten; Katie Boznak (Trent); Nick Boznak (Brit); 12 great-grandchildren; over a dozen nieces and nephews; and several cousins near and dear to her heart.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Varga; her second-mother, Helen “Jinny” (Bond) Varga; a son-in-law, Mark Sabbatini;  her brother, Theodore “Sonny” Varga; sister-in-law, Christy Boznak; and sister by marriage, Jinny Rose Bond.
