James Peluso age 87 of Pengilly, MN passed away Monday, September 16, 2019. Jim was born September 4, 1932 in Cloverdale, MN to Frank and Carmella (Toronto) Peluso. Jim grew up on the family’s dairy farm; he attended Greenway High School and was drafted into the Army shortly after graduation, during the Korean War. After his military service Jim was employed as an electrician at the Hanna Mining Company for 46 years. Jim was married to Anita Vlatkovich on October 26, 1956 in Hibbing. Jim and Anita ran Peluso’s Grocery Store in Pengilly for 26 years; he was a member of the VFW Honor Guard. Jim enjoyed bowling at the Stadium Lanes in Nashwauk and was always available to entertain people by playing his accordion. Jim loved to hunt and especially loved hockey, he and Anita would go to every game they could. Through the years he became a very proud hockey dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carmella and his brother, Mike. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita, children, Frank (Kathy) Peluso of Taconite, MN, Joe (Patti) Peluso of Wadena, MN, Gino (Rita) Peluso of St. Louis Park, MN, Mike Peluso of Woodbury, MN, Julie ( Dave) Sundquist of Pengilly MN, grandchildren, Lisa Troumbly, Marc Peluso, Christopher Peluso, Derek Sundquist, Serena Peluso, Kristi Sundquist, Maria Peluso, Alison Peluso, Grace Peluso, Dylan Sundquist, 11 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. The Reverend Fr. Joseph Sobolic will officiate.
