Anita passed away peacefully Friday, August 24, 2018 with her husband George by her side. A longtime resident of Hibbing, Anita spent her early years in Duluth and attended UMD, where she and George met. They recently celebrated 61 years of married life together. Anita was an active member of her church and community throughout her life, participating in many clubs and organizations. Her bridge club was at the top of that list. She was a talented artist, always curious, and she pursued many hobbies. She especially enjoyed painting, sewing, and blueberry picking with her grandkids. Anita was a musician, playing piano and organ for countless weddings and celebrations of life in virtually every church in Hibbing, and she was the organist at the First Presbyterian Church for nearly 20 years, where she was a member. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She loved being with her grandkids and they adored her. Anita is survived by her husband, George Cicmil, children, David (Gabi), LeeAnn (Bob) Whelan, Pam (Tom) Schmitz and Dan (Robin), sister Olive LaViolette, grandchildren Melanie (Chris) Winterfeldt, Meaghan Cicmil(Jeremiah Uti); Sam (Lauren), Addie, and Nick Whelan; Max, Erin and Danny Schmitz; Alex and Nathan Stark, great-grandchildren, Mason and Mikale, many nieces and nephews, and the most loyal, fun loving, and steadfast friends. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, O.C. and Louise Lee and her siblings, Larry Lee and Marilyn Neary. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home.
