 Emma M. Erickson

Emma M. Erickson, 84, resident of Hibbing since 1969, and formerly of Goodland, MN died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN.  She was born August 4, 1932 to Charles W. and Ruth E. (Pratt) Atkins in Rock Island, IL.  Emma was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing.  She was a proud employee with Sunrise Bakery as a doughnut fryer, retiring in the early 90’s.  She was an avid bingo player, some say she was obsessed!  She was an excellent baker and was known for her “overnight buns”.  She wasn’t afraid to cook overly large meals for others.  Emma was a extremely kind person and always thought of others before herself.   She loved fishing, and berry picking as her pastimes.

She is survived by her children, Ruth (Clifford Kampsula) Enyart, Hibbing, Robert (Betty Cooper) Erickson, Enumclaw, WA, Dorothy (David) Cencich, Hibbing, Glen Erickson, Hibbing, and Brenda (Steve) Belak, Hibbing, sister, Esther Partch, Woodbury, MN, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Violet Senich, Chisholm, MN, Betty Atkins, Hibbing, MN, and Helena Atkins, Mahtomedi, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two children, Esther and Harry Erickson, husband, Wilbert Erickson in 1999, parents, four sisters, Mary, Lola, Ida, and Elma, and two brothers, John and Charles “Bill” Atkins.

Funeral services for Emma will be 11:00am, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev. Rod Tuomi will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The visitation will then continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Wednesday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
