Joann Arlene Carlson
Joann A. Carlson, 70, Hibbing, died Friday April 13, 2012, at Fairview University Medical Center—Mesabi, Hibbing.  She was born in Hibbing on August 11, 1941, to John and Julia Stahl.  Joann was primarily a homemaker, but in her younger years, she had worked in Minneapolis at Munsingwear and the Central Laundry.  Later, she and her husband, Henry, ran Fred’s CafĂ©  in Goodland.  Joann enjoyed sewing and quilting as well as mowing and tending her lawn.  
She is survived by her husband, Henry, of Hibbing; 2 brothers, Roger Stahl of Larson, WI and Charles (Barbara) Stahl of San Jose, CA; 4 sisters:  Carol Brown of Moberly, MO, Mary (Ervin) Sams of Hibbing, Jane (Jim) Drake of Hibbing, and Susan (Gaylen) Kuha of Springbrook, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by 2 nephews, Steven John Sams and James Harry Sams.
Visitation will be Friday April 20, 2012, in Open Door Church of Hibbing for one hour prior to the 1 PM funeral service.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of grief. Joann was a great woman. I often think of the good times we had together. Just lean on God and hold family and friends close to help you through this difficult time. Take one day at a time. May God Bless and take care of you, Hank, and her family during this difficult time.

We would like to take a monent to let you know that we are so sorry for your loss, are whole family was saddend with the call of your loss. I am so thankful for the visits we had with Joann and the times that the two of you opened your home to our visits, she will be missed by many. We will keep you in our prayers.

Hank, So very sorry for your loss. Even after losing my husband 4 years ago, its difficult for me to tell you I understand what your going through as I also know each of us grieves separately and in our own way. Hank, my heartfelt sympathies to you & your family. My thoughts & prayers are with you during this difficult time. I''m so happy I got to know your lovely wife Joann up at Lynn & Red Hagen''s cabin. I have so many fond memories when the two of you would stop over to visit with us during our girls'' weekend every summer & fall.

Hank we are saddened by the news of Joann''s passing. We know this is a hard time for you and want you to know that we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that you will remain strong and that the Lord will comfort you in your deep time of sorrow.

We will all miss Joann...her smile, her laugh, her witty humor and unique perspectives. We will always have warm and pleasant memories of Joann and you together with us especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving over the years.
